Guanajuato, Gto., February 15, 2017.- Nearly 400 people attended the guided visit offered by Dr. Héctor Bravo-Alfaro, responsible of the Astronomical Observatory "La Azotea", located on the Central Building of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

The event inaugurated the activities that are programmed for this year in such space, oriented so the university community and the public may know the facilities and the work done there.

Dr. Héctor Bravo-Alfaro explained that this February 14th there was an open sky explanation and then, there was an observation –through telescopes—of Venus, Orion nebula and Pleiades.

In addition, he reminded that the Observatory "La Azotea" has free access to the telescopes, from Monday to Friday in a schedule from 18:30-21:30hrs.

Although in the opening event the public was composed mostly by college students, the observatory "La Azotea" offers guided visits and talks to public of different ages, because the objective is to approach them to science.

The Astronomical Observatory of the University of Guanajuato has several telescopes, the smallest have a wide field view. There is also 8", 11" and 14" telescopes which can be used during observations, without any cost.
