
Aguascalientes, Ags., February 17, 2017. Within the Day of the Mexican Inventor, researchers of the University of Guanajuato (UG) received the titles of patents, in a ceremony where Mexico stood out, the universities and research centers of the country sum up 50% of the applications to the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
At the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, venue of the event, received the titles of the patent applications, UG's academic, Dr. Julián Moisés Estudillo Anaya, for a System of detection and reproduction of finger movements, based in optic fibers."
IMPI also gave the title of their patents to Dr. Mario Alberto Ibarra Manzano, to Dr. Pedro Coutiño Soto, Dr. Miguel Ángel José Gonzaléz Martínez and Dr. Alejandro Gil-Villegas Montiel, with what they officially recognize UG's researchers their discovery and rights derived.
At the ceremony, the head of the regional office of IMPI, Lic. Alejandro Salas Domínguez, expressed that a national level, the research centers and universities approximately concentrate half of the applications for patents, which means that the youth is the main source of ideas in Mexico.
He considered a priority to encourage the industrial protection and diffuse the benefits of submitting the scientific developments to a patent registry, as well as commercialize them, to obtain economic resources.
He also mentioned that, they pretend that at the end of this six-year term, the percentage destined for research in Mexico increases to 0.8% of the GDP, although he recognized that the country still faces a great lag in this subject, he pointed out that there are significant progresses, since entities as Guanajuato and Jalisco are making important investment in the topic of industrial property, development and innovation.
