Ciudad de México., February 20, 2017.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) positioned at the 12th place in the country in the most recent edition of the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics), which measures the scientific and academic activity in Internet among more than twenty-four thousand universities in the world.
Such ranking, which is published since 2004, provides the most complete and updated classification of more than 24,000 higher education institutions in the world, the Maximum House of Studies occupies the 81st place in Latin America.
The classification tries to show the penetration of the universities through internet, to which then makes a list according an indicator that combines the volume of published information and the visibility and impact of their emails, according the number of external links received.
The information of the institutions breaks down by countries and continents. So, the corresponding results to January 2017, the Brazilian Universidad de Sao Paulo placed in the first place of Latin America, which makes it the educational institutions with most presence in Internet within the region. In second place, it's UNAM and, in third place, the Universidad Estatal de Campinas, also from Brazil. UNAM is the number one of Mexico.
Webometrics is an initiative of Cybermetrics Lab, a research group that is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC, for its acronym in Spanish), located in Spain, that has the purpose to measure the scientific activity on the internet.
