
León, Gto., February 20, 2017.- With the purpose to train health professionals, primarily in the public sector, and educating the people with diabetes in their selfcare, the 12th Diploma in Therapeutic Education in Diabetes began, taught by professors of the Division of Health Sciences at Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG).
In an interview, Lic. Carolina Cabrera, Secretary of the Technical Committee of the Diploma at Campus León mentioned: "Until now we have had 343 graduates, with a strong impact on the population, because people with diabetes improve their life quality with the projects developed by our graduates through educational interventions. We estimate that more than 5000 people with diabetes or risk factors to develop it have been benefited with this labor done during the diploma."
The diploma is coordinated by Dr. Sergio Márquez Gamiño, outstanding professor at the University of Guanajuato in the area of health, as well as Lic. Carolina Cabrera de la Cruz.
Teresa Prats, students of the diploma in diabetes highlighted: "this diploma has great expectations, because you can apply it in any area. The most interesting is that any person who takes the diploma can be an educator of diabetes, but above all, everyone who is in health prevention. Today, diabetes is one of the main causes of death in the country, hence it is important to prepare more every day in this field."
The diploma is taught Friday and Saturdays at the venue San Carlos of Campus León, it has eight modules. The next edition will begin on August 4th.
