
León, Gto., February 23, 2017.- The Seminar of Culture and Heritage began its activities with the participation of Dr. Arturo Joel Padilla Córdova, General Director of the Cultural Forum Guanajuato and Dr. David Carbajal López; researcher of the University of Guadalajara, University Center of Los Lagos.
The responsible to present the opening conference was Dr. Arturo Joel Padilla Córdova with the title "El patrimonio cultural en el pensamiento contemporáneo" where he explained the concept of heritage and the multiple contemporary factors present in the social dynamics that have influences in the perception and owning of the cultural heritage where he remarked the technology, education, communication, globalization, social interaction, progress, among others.
In his intervention, mentioned the importance of generating strategies for the civil society to approve the tangible and intangible cultural heritage and its revalue, besides so they're not ephemeral elements. "They have presented very important changes and we have to understand what is cultural heritage and not leave it as archeological ruins. The planning of the heritage cannot be a stranger to the present", he pointed out.
Likewise, he emphasized on the role of the development and their impact in the permanence, generation or destruction of the cultural heritage and the opportunity that modernity offers to revalue it with innovative ideas.
On his part, Dr. David Carbajal intervened with the topic "San Felipe de Jesús y el currutaco. Religión y estereotipos de género masculine en una procesión del siglo XIX". In his presentation, he showed progress of a research project of men and the historical construction of the stereotype of currutaco and its link to culture.
The stereotype of currutaco was described and placed in several times where he commented his function in the religious processions that presented mainly in what is now Mexico City. The qualities of the character were pointed out as "an elite man who uses clothing to improve their image falling into vanity, the currutaco has certain practices such as dancing."
He also pointed the representation done by publications of the time and detailed the practices that had the objective the correction of the traditions.
In this way, the Seminar of Culture and Heritage begins with his third edition with scheduled programs once a month, concluding the cycle on this November. The collaboration work with other institutions will allow to enrich the different lines of research in the matter of cultural heritage and strengthen the professional formation of the students.
