
Guanajuato, Gto., February 24, 2017.- As part of the actions for the development of competencies in experiences in the international area, the Program of Environmental Handling and Sustainability of the University of Guanajuato, organized the master conference called "De las tensoestructuras a la bioarquitectura" given by the German architect Gernot Minke, who is considered the father of Modern Bioconstruction in the world.
The event was held at the Department of Architecture of the University of Guanajuato (UG), where more than a hundred students and professors gathered, who interestedly listened the conference.
Gernot Minke is a retired professor of the University of Kassel in Germany; at the event, he presented the achievements and progress of the self-carrying systems and sustainable veils, besides his projects on sustainable architectonic construction in houses, buildings and civic plazas, among many others.
Both professors and students were enthusiast for having this kind of approach, this time with the conference that, defined as a high educational quality talk and with scientific content; which helps complement the creation of an educational platform for the comprehensive formation of all college students.
Gernot Minke is the first world referent regarding sustainable or natural construction. Architect with a Ph.D. on structure efficiency, researcher and entrepreneur, Minke studied architecture in the University of Hanover and the Technical University of Berlin. His first job was a scientific cooperator at the Institute of Research of Light Constructions next to the Architect and Engineer Frei Otto at the University of Stuttgart, between 1964 and 1968.
He has carried out more than 50 research projects and development in the field of ecological constructions, low cost housing, constructions in land, bales of straw, bamboo and green roofs. He has been invited as a speaker to more than 60 international conferences and oriented numerous talks, courses and workshops in several places in the world.
At the conference were present: Ing. Director of the Department of Civil Engineering who welcomed and made the official presentation of the speaker. Also, present, M. Dante Acal Sánchez. -Head of the Program of Environmental handling and Sustainability of the University of Guanajuato, who addressed the importance of the sustainable constructions, as well as the academic formation and teacher in environmental area.
