Salvatierra, Gto., February 27, 2017.- University authorities inaugurated different constructions at the High School Salvatierra, which proves the commitment of the University of Guanajuato (UG) to continue strengthening the subsystem that holds high school students in the institution.

At the ceremony, the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, pointed out that although in Mexico, the public universities don't receive funds for high school, UG has the firm commitment to maintain this subsystem, and a proof is the construction of the library, cafeteria, and computing center at HS Salvatierra.

In a humane university, we must encourage the values and virtues of the human being –he said—hence, he expressed, on behalf of the university community, his gratitude for who has worked throughout the years to consolidate HS Salvatierra, from the promoters of its creation such as the former Municipal President, Efren Guerrero and the former student, Gerardo Cerda Herrera, until the senator Gerardo Sánchez García, who negotiated 30million pesos for the recently inaugurated constructions.

While receiving an award for his labor in favor of UG, the senator expressed his emotion to contribute in having better schools because "with education, you can do everything, even the unimaginable", he sustained.

The legislator highlighted that HS Salvatierra has an enormous academic recognition and trusted that offering better facilities will strengthen the academic formation of the students. Likewise, he acknowledged the participation of UG's General Rector and the high school principal, CPA. Ma. Refugio Quintana Sánchez, whose perseverance and negotiations allowed to obtain funding for the construction.

The spaces built were: library, computing center and a bathroom module. In the top floor, there's a literary archive, cubicles, study tables, meeting rooms, warehouse and printing center. On the bottom floor, a literary archive, bathrooms, cubicles, study tables and computing center.

In his intervention, the Director of the High School College (CNMS), Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona, highlighted the convergence of efforts from diverse authorities and society, to carry on these constructions at the high school, and agreed that the constructions of university spaces result in a greater quality education.

While welcoming the attendants, CPA. Ma. Refugio Quintana Sánchez, shared that when obtaining the level 3 accreditation in the National System of Baccalaureate, some improvement horizons were pointed out for HS Salvatierra, among them, the need to have an adequate space to check documentary information, electronics and equipment to use the information technologies. This was the origin of the negotiations for the inaugurated constructions.

Likewise, she announced that they are negotiating already so the high school she leads, obtains the level 2 in the mentioned system, in which only institutions who have been accredited by the Department of Public Education are part of, since it demands a high-quality level.
