
Guanajuato, Gto., March 1, 2017.- From now own, students of the Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering of the University of Guanajuato (UG) will have the possibility to obtain the double degree, after signing an agreement between this institution and Hiroshima University.
The agreement, signed by UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, and the President of Hiroshima University, Dr. Mitsuo Ochi, widens the collaboration between both institutions, which in 2013 began formally.
During the event, Dr. Guerrero Agripino highlighted that this agreement symbolizes the academic bonds not only between two universities, but between two countries, and reaffirms the brotherhood of both nations, at the same time he reminded that the University of Guanajuato has links with Japanese institutions since 1990.
He also referred to the importance of creating liaisons with Hiroshima, a city that has been an example for humankind for their capability, strength and now stands out for their social and human development that has reached.
On his part, the President of Hiroshima University revealed his interest to strengthen the collaboration with UG and declared that his intention is for Guanajuato to be the base of their activities in Mexico regarding education and research.
Hiroshima University is one of the educational institutions with most prestige in Japan, it has an important trajectory in research in engineering areas and a strong collaboration with Mazda, which has reflected in the development of new technologies for the automotive sector.
Therefore, this agreement, besides professionalizing the Mechanical Engineer students, taught at the venue Salamanca of UG, opens the option for the graduates to work in Mazda, established in the same city.
The Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz, pointed out that the signing of this agreement is a result of over a year of negotiations and teamwork. He specially recognized the effort of the Director of the Department of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Elías Rigoberto Ledesma Orozco to concrete this possibility to obtain the double degree that now have the doctorate students.
During the agreement signing, were also present the Vice-President of Hiroshima University, Dr. Toshiyuki Sato and the professor of the Center of Research and Collaborative Cooperation of the same institution, Dr. Naotaka Hiromi.
From UG, attended the Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo; the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz; the Director of the Division of Sciences and Engineering of Campus, Dr. Victor Ayala Ramírez and the Director of Liaison, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro.
