Guanajuato, Gto., March 1, 2017.- With the purpose to influence in the culture of prevention from the professional formation of the students, future professionals, this Wednesday was signed the agreement between the Department of Work and Social Prevision (STPS) Delegation Guanajuato and the University of Guanajuato (UG), to create the course "Management in Occupational hazards".

This course already has 31 students enrolled from the degrees of Industrial Relations, Quality and Productivity and Management; as well as engineering: Environmental, Civil, Hydraulic, Geology, Business management, Industrial and Electro mechanic.

Representing Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, UG's General Rector, attended Dr. Jorge Romero Hidalgo, Secretary of Management and Development, who assured that for this house of studies, signing the agreement is an act of institutional transcendence and a specific action not only to students but society, particularly in high risk industries for the workers.

He thanked the visit and openness of STPS for their institutional transcendence and highlighted that the real message of this agreement is that human life must be preserved over any economic situation.

The agreement was also signed by Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla, Academic Secretary of Campus Guanajuato, representing Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of Campus Guanajuato.

In her message, Dr. Gutiérrez recognized the work of the Division of Engineering (DI) to tighten relationships with several instances of public management, in this case STPS, instance with which since 2016 had training activities in handling occupational hazards.

She reminded that were 23 students who composed the first generation of the diploma that finished in November 2016, and signing this agreement, both parts assume the commitment to provide continuity to the efforts begun and offer a new edition of the course, now training 31 young students from different degrees.

It is worthy to mention that once the course is over, which lasts 150 hours, 20 of the students could obtain their professional degree.

In his opportunity, Lic. Jaime Ricardo Kirchner Plascencia, Federal Delegate of Work in the state of Guanajuato, highlighted that it is an honor to have an agreement with a renowned institution such as UG.

He emphasized that STPS has the purpose to provide a worthy employment and prevent accidents, from which last year occurred 1,399 non-fatal and 19 fatal in this entity, which leaves Guanajuato, in the national ranking, as one of the states with less accident rate, but the idea is to have less incidents.

On his part, Dr. Luis Enrique Mendoza Puga, Director of the Division of Engineering, referred that the background of this agreement was the reflection in the sense that some degrees in the Division, have a profile with high risk and accident indexes activities as the construction industry, especially because the culture of prevention is not encouraged.

In that tone, as a Division, they proposed that something must be done from the institutional, academic and business sectors to influence in the prevision from the professional formation of the students, future professionals, hence, since last year there was training, that today formalizes with the signature of an agreement that will benefit everyone.
