León, Gto., March 2, 2017.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) confirms its academic excellence and quality assurance and relevance of its programs, as well as the formation of medicine professionals by receiving the verdict from the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of the Medical Education A.C. (COMAEM), which confirms the reaccreditation process of the degree in Medical Surgeon.

The validity of this reaccreditation is five years, starting from February 22 2017 until February 21 2022.

This procedure began internally as an initiative of the University and consisted in making a self-evaluation of all aspects (academic, administrative and operative) which are part of the degree, with the purpose to tune them and request the visit of COMAEM's delegation.

In a 3-day visit, the five-member committee made observations in the venues where the program is taught, to evaluate where the University complies the proposed requirements to obtain the accreditation.

Finally, and after approximately two months, the organism that approves the quality of the medical educational programs in the country, has determined that the Medical Surgeon degree of UG, fully complies with the requirements to be accredited by COMAEM.

University authorities will receive COMAEM's personnel in the next days to carry out the corresponding protocol act. It will have the presence of UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino; Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus Leon, Dr. Tonatiuh García Campos, Director of the Division of Health Sciences, as well as the student and academic community.
