Salamanca, Gto., March 2, 2017.- Researchers from five universities share studies in photonics, during the first congress of the student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) which will be held in the venue Salamanca of the University of Guanajuato.

The First Congress IEEE-UG Photonics Society Student Branch gathers researchers from the University of Dayton, the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), the Optics Research Center (CIO), the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) and the own University of Guanajuato (UG), mentioned the president of the student branch, Luis Fernando Sámano Aguilar.

This congress has the participation of students of the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of UG, from major, master and doctorate degrees, which next to the researchers, will seek opportunity areas that strengthen their lines of generation and application of knowledge. Fruit of this relation with other institutions, they had the presence of outstanding members of the National System of Researchers such as: Olivier Jean Michel Pottiez, Joseph Haus, Evgeny Kuzin, Romeo de Jesús Selvas Aguilar, Alejandro Martínez Ríos, Baldemar Ibarra Escamilla, Ismael Torres Gómez & Sabino Chávez Cerda.

The Congress was inaugurated by the Academic Secretary of Campus, Dr. Martín Picón Nuñez, who highlighted that the student branches are crucial for the growth and development of the scientific community.

It is important to mention that at UG, there are professors from the Division of Engineering who dedicate to teaching and research in optics, such as Dr. Julián Moisés Esudillo Ayala, advisor of this student branch, who pointed that an IEEE's student branch can be one of the most positive elements in forming students, offering programs in the fields designated by IEEE in engineering, informatics and information technologies, as well as similar interests.

The participants agreed that is favorable that college students are associated with IEEE, a world association of engineers dedicated to the standardization and development in technical areas.
