Guanajuato, Gto., March 3, 2017.- At the XXVI edition of the National Olympics of Chemistry, the delegation of Guanajuato, formed by six students of the University of Guanajuato (UG), had an outstanding participation by getting one gold medal and three bronze medals.

It's worth to mention that all the delegation members passed to the second stage, which consisted in experimental exams, with these results: Cinthya Ximena Luna González from HS Leon, gold medal; Uriel Maldonado Hernández from HS Leon, Daniel Leonardo Lozano Alvarado & Ricardo Jaramillo Hernández from HS Centro Historico Leon, received the bronze medal.

The delegation is complete with Esteban Veloz Muñoz of HS Centro Historico León and Ángel Eduardo García Hernández of HS León; the advisers of the delegation were the professors Miguel Ángel Ruíz Torres from HS Centro Historico Leon, Ana Cristina Esqueda Oliva and Salvador Rentería Hernández from HS Leon.

Both levels had theoretic and experimental exams, which comprehend the areas of Inorganic Chemistry, Analytic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physics-Chemistry.

In the Level B, participate students who are in the first years of high school and who haven't had topics related with Organic Chemistry, while Level A, participates students from the last years of high school and they are evaluated in the four mentioned areas.

With this achievement, the young students were proud of having an outstanding participation, same that is reflected by obtaining the medals; they thanked the university authorities, as well as their families and friends for their support who trusted them and have been an important part to achieve those results.

This stage concludes a six-month preparation where these young students went through several stages: regional, state and national, where they received training since las November from the state delegates, the chemist Victor de los Cobos, Dr. Jesús Raúl Lugo Martínez, and M. Luis Fernando Mejía Díaz.

The 26th edition of the National Olympics of Chemistry finished successfully, since UG positioned among the ten institutions that from their beginnings –in 1992—has had outstanding participations and harvested medals in every edition. Thanks to the support of UG authorities, and engineer Luis Rafael Sánchez, General Director of Planning, Design and Evaluation of High and Higher Education of the State of Guanajuato, for the support given to the activities of the Olympics of Chemistry and formation workshops to High School professors.
