Guanajuato, Gto., March 3, 2017.- With a show that will promote and show the traditions of Guanajuato, the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato (BAFUG) will present for the first time in Palacio de Bellas Artes, the maximum place of cultural expression in our country.

The event will be next March 18th at 19:00hrs, announcement made in a press conference presided by the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, who highlighted that "with a 32-year trajectory, BAFUG represents a great university project, which thanks to constant effort has become in one of the most outstanding groups of UG. Presenting in Bellas Artes symbolizes all the talent the university has."

Likewise, thanked the negotiation made by the Senator Miguel Ángel Chico, UG graduate, who for a year and a half, negotiated the proposal for BAFUG to show their talent in Bellas Artes.

The senator indicated as a UG graduate and from Guanajuato, is a pride for BAFUG to take the traditions of our state to one of the most emblematic places in the country and mentioned that he expects in a future to continue making more presentations in the same place.

BAFUG's director, Roberto Martínez Rocha, described what they'll dance, the program is called "Guanajuato, tierra y tradición". "With this show, we want more people to know the traditions of Guanajuato, so we have prepared special choreographies from diverse cities in the state."

Sixty dancers on-scene and thirty musicians. Will begin with the dance of the Aztec corporation, followed by the conquest through the shell dancing, which are from the center of the country. Then, the public will enjoy the "paloteros" dance, which belongs to the city of Yuriria.

From the cities of León and Silao there will be the dance of the "indios broncos", "Chichimeca" dance which continues being present in the popular parties. BAFUG's director emphasized that they will play a new choreography about the Flowers Day and Friday of Dolores in capital Guanajuato.

In the show in Bellas Artes, there will be an homage for the composer of Guanajuato, Juventino Rosas, where they'll present "Flores de México" and the waltz "Sobre las olas". To close, they'll dance the sonnets and "jarabes" of Guanajuato.

BAFUG will be accompanied by the mariachi "Agave" who will play songs from José Alfredo Jiménez. Likewise, the groups "Santuario huasteco", "Sonarte" and "Los arribeños" will participate.

It is important to mention that BAFUG was found between November 1985 and April 1986 by M. América Balbuena Cisneros. It is from August 1997, that the Ballet's Direction is overseen by M. Roberto Martínez Rocha, who throughout 20 years achieves to found the Child and Youth Ballet. From then on, the dance activity focuses as part of a comprehensive and formative education; plus, the uneasiness of rescuing and preserving the ethnic-dance-musical process of the country, the group makes choreographic montages with the purpose to know, preserve and sustain the traditions of the state of Guanajuato and Mexico, as part of our cultural heritage.

At the press conference were present: the director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud and the Director of Communication and Liaison, M. Margarita Arenas.
