
Guanajuato, March 3, 2017.- With the purpose to encourage the social entrepreneur and leadership skills in the High School students of the University of Guanajuato (UG), and the purpose to create social impact projects and improve the environment, the project "Pupas Developers" was inaugurated.
This project consolidated in 2016 by a group of developers to contribute the comprehensive development of the high school students. In this Jan-Jun 2017 edition, 43 people between students, scholars and administrators of the high and higher education levels will participate to involve students in the field of social entrepreneurship.
During the opening ceremony, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted the responsibility of the university community to address the uneasiness, ideas and concerns of the students, to create an intergenerational synergy for a better future.
Also, he mentioned that within the institutional bases where the student must have a comprehensive formation, this type of projects allows to generate innovative ideas among the students potentiating their creative ability, not only to explore an existent context but have the possibility for something different with professional and social benefit.
On his part, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development of UG, commented that this project has been supported from the beginning to increase the student's participation in several projects. He mentioned that Pupas 2017 has three phases, and in the first, they will begin working with the high school students from Celaya, Moroleón, Guanajuato, Silao and Pénjamo with an approximate impact of 500 students.
On the other hand, the student of the degree in International Trade of UG, Beatriz Álvarez Granados, who is the General Coordinator of the organized group Pupas Developers, highlighted the importance of creating leaders that innovate and improve the country with high impact projects and assured that in UG there is a lot of talent to explore.
In an interview, he said that this project will be done in three stages with the high school students in the three following semesters, with an impact of 150 students per school where they will work.
In the first phase, "Pupas training" which will be held on the first semester, they'll train high schoolers with four conferences about motivation, social entrepreneurship, event logistic, project strategy and assertive communication.
The second phase, "Pupas undertaking", consists in the students' projects, with the formulation and internal negotiation to achieve the knowledge in each one; and finally, the phase "Pupas Developers" which consists in the liaison of the projects of the students with external dependencies, which allow the personal, professional and social benefit.
To finalize the opening event, there was the presentation of the master conference and workshop with the topic: Motivation, student leadership and social entrepreneurship; like so, they will continue working in the comprehensive formation of the student with the development of projects in topics of health, culture & art, sports and liaison.
During the event, they had the presence of the Legal Liaison of Campus Guanajuato, M. Miguel Ángel Cervantes Flores, representing the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera; the Director of the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences of UG, Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López; representing the High School College's Director, Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona, the General Coordinator of Student Services, Lic. Jesús Jiménez Herrera; and representing the teaching staff of Pupas, M. Mauricio Silva Muñoz.
