
Guanajuato, Gto., March 6, 2017.- With the presence of at least 38 professors-researchers of more than 15 public and private universities in Mexico and Latin America, began at the University of Guanajuato (UG) the "4th National Colloquium of Research for Design".
During March 6 and 7, the facilities of the Department of Design of the Division of Architecture, Art & Design (DAAD) of Campus Guanajuato will the spaces to share findings and reflections in topics such as sustainability, pedagogy, professional practice and trends and design disciplines.
Dr. Claudia Gutiérrez Padilla, Academic Secretary of Campus Guanajuato, inaugurated this important encounter that emerges from the interest for research and the liaison with design peers, she said, to integrate groups who contribute in the professionalization of the area through research.
Dr. Gutiérrez remembered that thus from these activities, emerged the National Network of Researchers in Design, whose first result was the publication of a book, for which she expressed her recognition to DAAD for their work and participation and organization for being this year's host for the event.
She wished for this 4th Colloquium, to have continuity in the achieved goals in the editions that preceded and wished the best results.
As for Dr. Francisco Javier González Compeán, DAAD's Director, also made a public recognition to the negotiation of the Department of Design's professors because together with the National Network, have made possible to open this space for debate on artistic disciplines, as a fundamental part of the university doing, which allows not only to generate knowledge but innovative solutions for society's needs.
Design must be considered "not only as a functional activity but intrinsically artistic, which as every manifestation of that kind, touches the life and spirit of people", concluded Dr. González Compeán.
Earlier, on behalf of the professors of the Department of Design, Dr. Cynthia Patricia Villagómez Oviedo, revealed that after negotiating for four months, they finally achieved the Colloquium at UG, hence, she thanked all the support from the university authorities.
She mentioned that the previous colloquiums were at the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes and the Universidad Metropolitana, and earlier, designers integrated to art, architecture, and urbanism forums, to have the possibility show their research, but now since 2012, there is a space to share their reflections.
At the ceremony participated M. Ma. Concepción Rodríguez Argote, Director of the Department of Design, and Dr. Ricardo López León, professor of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes and member of the National Network of Researchers in Design.
