
Guanajuato, Gto., March 6, 2017.- "In judo competitions, women are who have achieved more medals for the University of Guanajuato (UG)", remarked the student of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Natzieli Melissa Sánchez Cruz, who has been recognized by Guanajuato's government for her outstanding participation in state and national competitions.
Besides being an outstanding athlete, she is on the seventh term of Civil Engineering and her objective for 2017 is "to take advantage of the opportunities given by UG to develop in other areas, as well as continue training and studying, with the support of my family".
In an interview, Natzieli Sánchez highlighted that it is a great challenge to study and engineering and at the same time practice judo, areas where the number of men is greater, nevertheless, the young student has the firm conviction to prove that women can have an excellent performance in any area.
To the women at UG, Melissa Sánchez advises to not limit by the walls society imposes, since it is about "proving ourselves and the others that we can achieve what we propose and it is not so complicated if you put effort and dedication".
In Civil Engineering, her objective is to specialize in soil mechanics, area that studies soils, forces and loads to know the conditions where it's going to be constructed, as for sport, in a few days she will compete in the Universiada Nacional 2017 in the category under 57kg.
In sports, the young judoka of UG, trains 5 days a week with two hours of practice per day and her favorite technique is Harai Goshi, which consists in grabbing the opponent by the hip with right hand and while lifting, the right leg creates a lever movement and knock the opponent down.
For Natzieli Sánchez, being an athlete and student at UG is a great commitment, where dedication and time for each area are essential pillars in her comprehensive formation.
Finally, she expressed her recognition to the University of Guanajuato for showing their support to who practices Judo, specially the women, who have brought more medals and distinctions to the institution.
