León, Gto., March 8, 2017.- Within the commemoration of the International Women's Day, there was a panel "Women, self-care and job world" where professors-researchers of Campus Leon participated and gave their different perspectives, whilst pointing out important aspects of health, self-care and education to motivate the attendant to reflection and analysis.
Dr. Adriana Dávalos Pérez considered important to make a reconceptualization of health, sickness and the healthy behaviors to achieve gender equity and favor healthy environments from the conceiving, first year of life, school age and later stages. "Self-care should be a life's philosophy and an individual responsibility, we must develop in people self-esteem and empowerment to achieve the equity of gender in health", she mentioned.
Also, she highlighted the role of women and their contribution to diminish the prevalence of sickness in the family, relation with the social system and transcendence in the country and the world.
Dr. Rebeca Monroy Torres exposed statistics of different studies where they exhibit indicators that show the gap of inequality between men and women in matters of food security, education, health, poverty of capabilities and patrimonial poverty. Likewise, presented the associated factors with the patters of nourishment that influence in the vulnerability of health in women and the development of diseases such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
To finalize, Dr. José Maria de la Roca Chiapas commented the current life styles, and highlighted the impact it generates to imitate the stereotypes presented in mass media, at the same time, the strong connection of the individual with social network and its effect on internal health, as the tendency of the youth to feel anxious, depresses, to isolate and lack of purpose.
Lastly, there was a space for the attendants to express their opinions and questions with the finality to enrich the addressed topics. Luis Gerardo González Graciano, student of the second semester of the degree in Sociology, commented in an interview, the importance of making activities where the role of women is analyzed and make efforts to promote a change in society.
