Guanajuato, Gto., March 14, 2017.- The renowned orchestra director, Jorge Mester, affirms that music is a mean to reestablish a contact with the spiritual life and the emotions of the human beings.

Through his vast career, he has reflected on the connection music has, to generate several sensations, away from visualizing it as a "laxative" that turns people in "better persons". Mester believes that music encourages to find comfort facing, for example, a natural disaster, a political conflict or other vulnerable situations.

Jorge Mester stands out internationally as an excellent director, has carried the baton of several orchestras around the world and has a vast experience. Despite, one his features is his simplicity, since every day he works to play in the best way possible.

With his peculiar humor, the orchestra director, mentioned that during his path around the world of music, one of his most significant experiences has been to learn from the mistakes, "every time I'm wrong, I try to not repeat the mistake, so every year I do less nonsense."

The laureate director by the prestigious Music Festival of Aspen, will be presenting with the Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG), next Friday March 17 at 20:30hrs, with a concert held at the General Auditorium of UG.

People will listen to plays from the composers Hector Berlioz, Bohuslav Martinú and Johannes Brahms. In addition, there will be the premiere in Guanajuato of the play "Concert for string quartet and orchestra" of the Czech composer Martinú, moment where the quartet "Quanax" will play, composed by OSUG musicians.

Jorge Mester mentioned that directing an orchestra is like what a football coach does, "both directors and coaches highlight the qualities of each musician and players to form a real team and a unity from the global view."

He mentioned that OSUG is a team with luck that it has not withered, thanks that "it has a lot of enthusiasm and if they are interested, the goal to reach perfection."

Currently, Jorge Mester is the head director of the Philharmonic Orchestra Boca del Rio, which, includes a musical education program called "Orchestring Harmony" focused on the social development aimed for children, and uses the transformative power of music as a mean to culture a state of ethic and responsible awareness, as well as to form people with high values and aspirations. This program encourages the healthy development of childhood.

He highlighted that the work the orchestra does is incredibly important since it gives a space for happiness and satisfaction to children who live in a complicated context.
