
Salamanca, Gto. March 16, 2017.- Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of the University of Guanajuato (UG) actively participates in the search for new friendlier energy sources with the planet, reason why they encourage the collaboration with researchers from 4 countries and students from 18 Mexican institutions at the Symposium of Renewable Energies and Thermal Sciences.
This is one of the events of the Week of Mechanical Engineering with the name "Dr. Arturo Lara López", distinguished graduate, professor, and former university director and current Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of Guanajuato, who received an award from the Campus' Rector, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, for his legacy in favor of the Division of Engineering and the University of Guanajuato.
State, municipal and university authorities began the symposium, accompanied by Dr. Adrian Bejan, Ukrainian researcher living in the US; Dr. Sylvie Lorente of France and Dr. Luiz Rocha of Brazil, also, national researchers from different universities: Dr. Jaime Cervantes de Gortari, Dr. Juan Manuel Zamora, Dr. Carlos Escobar del Pozo, Dr. Enrique Guzmán and Dr. Carlos Viniegra.
Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil, Director of Support for Research and Postgraduate, representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted that this event is a cornerstone in forming students and thanked Dr. Lara for his transcendent contributions for the maximum house of studies, congratulation to which joined the Municipal President of Salamanca, Ing. Antonio Arredondo Muñoz.
The honored, mentioned that the encouragement of the renewable energies has received an important contribution from the Division of Engineering and the Mexican Center of Renewable Energies. He also referred to UN's program for the Environment, mentions that Mexico has a great potential for renewable energies and our country, among the developing countries, made the largest investment to renewable energies, with 156 billion dollars.
The Renewable Energy Symposium had the attendance of 150 students, plus 150 viewers in a videoconference in four simultaneous venues, thanks to the organization of professors of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the students of the Student Branch of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Mexican Society of Mechanical Engineering (SOMIM) and the fraternity Pi Tau Sigma.
