Mexico City, March 19, 2017.- The pride, joy and love for the traditions of a country and a state, never have been as clear as the night the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato (BAFUG), danced effusively and beautifully in the "Palacio de Bellas Artes", the most emblematic place of culture in Mexico.
The place was filled with spectators who at the end, touched and full of joy and please –caused by the show they witnessed—stood up to ovate the work that through the years, has turned BAFUG into an artistic group of great quality and professionalism.
Under the direction of M. Roberto Martínez Rocha, the dancers conquered Bellas Artes' stage with different choreographies that exhibited the traditions and the typical dances of the state of Guanajuato.
"Earth & Tradition" (Tierra y Tradición) was the name that amazed due to its colorful costumes, music, coordination and dance complexity which is filled with history and singularity.
The public saw a Folkloric Ballet who far from presenting a common show in that dance style, it took the chance to show traditions and dances that are barely known in our country. BAFUG proved that Guanajuato has a broad diversity, that their music, dances and costumes, are enough to put together a program of almost two hours and surely has more to offer.
From the traditional dance of the Chichimecas, the "son Huasteco and Arribeño" with its poetry, the dance of the indios broncos, the shell-men, the "paloteros" and the symbolic dance of the bull captivated with their virtues and skills.
There was also an homage to the composer of Guanajuato, Juventino Rosas, from which songs were sung while BAFUG members with their subtle movements, represented an authentic waltz on the waves.
Mariachi couldn't be left out to play the music of José Alfredo Jiménez, whose songs are emotional therapies for all Mexicans.
At the end of the event, BAFUG said goodbye thanking for the effusive and prolonged applause of the audience, who exited Bellas Artes with a sample of the invaluable cultural richness Guanajuato and its University have.
In an interview, BAFUG's director, mentioned that being in Bellas Artes is the result of a constant work filled with discipline and highlighted that everyone at the ballet gathered their dreams to make only one, represent Guanajuato in the national and international level in the best scenarios.
He highlighted that BAFUG is composed by students and graduates of the University of Guanajuato, who besides having an academic activity to graduate with a professional degree, they also give most of their time and effort to the discipline of dance. He concluded that BAFUG is at the key moment of its history, full of commitment towards dancing and the diffusion of the traditions of Guanajuato.
