
León, Gto., March 17, 2017.- With the firm commitment to participate in the update and training of the challenges of the medical education, the University of Guanajuato (UG) through Campus Leon, participated in the XXI Conference of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Faculties and Schools of Medicine (ALAFEM) hosted by the Unión de Universidades de America Latina y del Caribe (UDUAL) from which the medical surgeon educational program is a member. The main theme was "Challenges of the Medical Education in Latin America".
The Rector of Campus Leon, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, said to be satisfied for the work done by the Division of Health Sciences, who has actively participated in the teaching improvements processes of medicine in the new social contexts, referring to one of the main addressed topics: International Accreditation of Schools of Medicine, What for?
On the matter, he mentioned that the re-accreditation in the next few days will be granted by the "Consejo Mexicano para la Acreditación de la Educación Médica. A.C." (COMAEM) to the educational program of medical surgeon, is a sample of the continuous evaluation of the teaching-learning process in the University of Guanajuato.
The activities were held in Mexico City at the Palace of the School of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México (UNAM) including topics such as: Professional mobility of the physician, simulation, virtual reality and professional exercise, the general physician, ending degree or specialty propaedeutic?, gaps in the offer and demand of specialists and the importance of research in the medical formation.
The President of the Union of Universities of Latin America and Rector of the Universidad de Cosa Rica, gave the conference: "La Universidad y el derecho social a la salud".
There was also a panel called "The general physician, ending degree or specialty propaedeutic? Led by Dr. Alejandro Zermeño Guerra, Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. The moderator was Dr. German Fajardo Dolci, Director of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Dr. Zeta Melva Triana Contreras, President of COMAEM participated as a panelist in the table with the topic: Accreditation of Schools of Medicine, what for? Where he referred to the importance and reach of this process in schools and faculties of medicine.
