Guanajuato, Gto., March 17, 2017.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) next to the General Direction of Tourism of Capital Guanajuato, revealed an agreement to present a show of UG's Estudiantina every month for free.

UG's Estudiantina is one of the groups which has remained for 47 years in the taste of the public. It was created on April 13, 1963 when they presented in the plaza of San Roque after a function of "Entremeses Cervantinos" of the University Theatre. The youth who compose it are students at UG.

In a press conference, was announced that UG will have quality shows throughout the year for both the city folk and the tourists, which also incentivize traditions and generate identity.

The director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud, highlighted that the university Estudiantina is one of the most emblematic groups of the educational institution, so she encouraged the audience to join the "callejoneadas" that estudiantina will lead and will part from Teatro Juárez, continue by the basilica, Countess alley, UG's stairway, again by the basilica to finish at the Union Garden.

The Municipal Tourism Director, Lic. Salvador Jaime Arroyo, mentioned that it is important to divulge the work of the most professional estudiantinas in the city; he also reiterated that the collaboration between the city and UG will continue to exist to favor the cultural development in the state capital.

Gerardo Sánchez, director of the Estudiantina of the University of Guanajuato, revealed the dated when the group will present for free for everyone. At first, on March 19, they'll begin the season, to continue with the "callejoneadas" in: April 29, May 22, June 17, July 29, August 19, September 16, October 14, November 18 and December 16.

The estudiantina has made tours on almost all South US, Canada, Central and South America; it was the only student group to win a Golden Disc for sales, the Silver Herald, two Golden Clovers and was part of the trio of the calendar "Azteca de Oro" as vocal group of the year, the award of the Touristic Merit, as well as a great number of awards, witnesses of their brilliant career.
