comienza-festival-universitario-de-las-artes-ug-ugtoLeón, Gto., March 21, 2017.- The University Arts Festival is an effort that for 16 years has allowed to divulge the artistic expressions made in higher education institutions.

This time, such festival will be held on Mach 21 to 24, in different venues of the 12 participating institutions, as every year the University of Guanajuato (UG), through Campus Leon, will present one of their most relevant artistic proposals.

At the opening event, which had as a venue the Optics Research Center (CIO), the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, mentioned that is of great social transcendence that a university art network to do a festival where there is an institutional brotherhood with the objective to democratize culture.

He highlighted that recently, UG has strengthened in the artistic discipline, by inaugurating an Art Company, by working to open the Doctorate in Spanish-American Literature and the with the recent presentation of the Folkloric Ballet of UG in the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

He also mentioned that for UG is of great importance the development and diffusion of arts, because there is an irrefutable power in art and culture to influence in a benefic social transformation and feed the spirit of the people.

The University Arts Festival is done with the purpose to ease the humanization process of the ambiance, getting involved in the comprehensive formation of the students, through the diffusion of artistic and cultural university products.

The university art network is formed by: the Universidad Tecnológica de León, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Universidad Iberoamericana León, UNIVA, ENES UNAM, Universidad De La Salle Bajío, Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica (CIO), Universidad de León, Tecnológico de Monterrey and University of Guanajuato.

This time, the University Arts Festival has the participation of 12 local and state universities and 15 artistic groups with a total of 27 activities. The Instituto Cultural de León joins the project to support by providing spaces and artistic groups.

At the inauguration, were also present: CIO's General Director, Dr. Elder de la Rosa Cruz; Rector of Ibero Leon, M. Felipe Espinoza; the Director of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional venue Leon, Dr. Beatriz Raya Rangel; the Rector of the Universidad de La Salle Bajío, Dr. Andrés Govela; the Rector of UNIVA, M. Leonel Zúñiga, and the Rector of Campus León of UG, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez.
