Guanajuato, Gto., March 22, 2017.- During 2016, the joint work of the community of Campus Guanajuato, allowed the increase in the enrollment and the strengthening of the quality of the 79 educational programs currently taught at the mentioned academic entity, explained the Rector, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, while presenting the Annual Activity Report.
With a population of 14,014 students and 1,037 professors, Campus Guanajuato is the largest in the University of Guanajuato (UG). Through their six divisions: Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA), Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE), Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH), Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD), Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG), and the Division of Engineering (DI), has the most varied educational offer of the House of Studies.
In her message, the Campus Rector, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, expressed her recognition to the harmonic and productive work of the members of the community, that not only limits to the academic ambience, but has an impact in their environment. Proof of it, are the 17,038 social service actions and the 28 projects of high social impact carried on the informed period.
She also highlighted 159 artistic activities and the numerous activities of knowledge extension such as conferences, colloquiums, congresses and editorial presentations, where 6,663 people participated.
Dr. Teresita Rendón sustained that "times have changes and the University has too with time", but the University remains as a stronghold of the social transformation, which contributes to shape the spirit of the youth.
To ease the exposition of the university achievements, the report divided in six areas: educational reform, professors, student support, mobility, encouragement and collegiate life. At the event, there was a video projected where they detailed the achievements of each one of the divisions; there was an Achievement Expo and brochures were given which contained the most important numbers, that prove the work done.
In his intervention, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, reaffirmed his recognition to the work of the member of Campus Guanajuato and pointed that the Annual Activity Report is time to provide numbers, but also to praise where are we located and where to move next, "and is also a time for joy", for the goals reached.
Campus Guanajuato currently represents almost 60% of the institution, with it emerged the University of Guanajuato, therefore, symbolizes the path taken of what is the most important educational project in the state, he highlighted. He also mentioned the need to move to a great challenge: achieve that all the educational programs be recognized for their quality, and he was certain that UG can reach the objective.
At the event, Dr. Maria Guevara Sanginés gave a message on behalf of the academic staff, where she mentioned the "extraordinary" transformation UG has had in the last years, with an important growth in the enrollment of students, number of professors and a change in the educational model, while she applauded the progress under the "enthusiast leadership of Dr. Teresita Rendón."
Representing the students, José de Jesús Salgado Campos, of the degree in Music, expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and experiences offered by UG to its members and asked the university authorities to be sensitive and solidary with the students who face economic problems to continue their studies.
At the event was present Regidor M. Gabino Carbajo Zúñiga, representative of the Municipal President of Guanajuato, Lic. Édgar Castro Cerrillo, who gave a welcome message to the attendants. Also, present at event were unipersonal authorities and representatives of the collegiate organs of UG's governance, representatives of syndical associations, retirees, professors, students and administrative personnel.
