Guanajuato, Gto., March 23, 2017.- The VIII National Congress of Postgraduate and Education, was inaugurated with the purpose to contribute to raise the quality of the postgraduate programs of the participant institutions and progressively influence in the decision making and educational policies.

The congress is held from March 23 to 25 in Guanajuato city, which received professors, students and researchers from different regions of the country and abroad.

The topic of the congress is "Investigación y formación para el desarrollo social y humano" and it is organized by the Red de Posgrados en Educación, A.C. y la Benemérita y Centenaria Escuela Normal Oficial de Guanajuato.

At the opening ceremony, the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that activities like this, are transcendent, since "the interinstitutional collaboration strengthens the knowledge. Education is not built in solitary, we need to join efforts to obtain common objectives such as the constitutions of a better citizenship through education."

The Red de Posgrados en Educación, A.C. is composed by several universities and educational institutions from different states in the republic such as Jalisco, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Yucatán, Zacatecas, Baja California, Durango, Estado de México, Hidalgo and Guanajuato.

The Executive Secretary of the Red de Posgrados en Educación A.C., M. Ruth Perales, indicated that the educational institutions are sources of collaboration that potentiates the formation of the citizens. "We must think of education as a door to happiness and visualize research as a tool for the human and social development."

Edgar Castro Cerrillo, Municipal President, mentioned that the municipal government has the commitment to work in the academic sector and enrich the scientific knowledge.

The Sub-Secretary of Higher Education of the Department of Innovation, Science and Higher Education, MA. Raúl Noriega Ponce, was responsible to officially inaugurate the congress, highlighting that in education, it is necessary to be on top of three axes: coverage and relevance to create a quality educational model.

Within the congress, there will be master conferences, panels, work tables, book presentation, exchange forums between students and researchers, network, collectives and association meetings; as well as the postgraduate coordinators in collaboration with the Consejo Mexicano de Investigación Educativa A.C. (COMIE).

At the opening were present: Congressman Alejandro Trejo Ávila; the delegate of the Department of Public Education, Lic. Adolfo Aranda Torres; and the Vice President of the COMIE, Dr. María Angélica Buendía.
