
Guanajuato, Gto., March 24, 2017.- The 59th edition of the Book Fair of the University of Guanajuato is about to begin, it will be held from March 30 to April 9 and of the main topics will the 100-birthday of the writer Juan Rulfo and the Universidad de Guadalajara as a guest of honor.
This was announced in a press conference where, in representing the General Rector of UG, the Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, indicated that this cultural party is transcendental, because students, professor, university community and public, will have a wide offer in editorial presentations, conferences and different events that cover disciplines such as dance, theater, cinema and music.
The Director of Cultural Extension, Dr. Sara Julsrud López, highlighted some of the most relevant events that will present in the Book Fair and the University's Cultural Festival.
Among these, she highlighted a special program of music and literature with the participation of the writer Juan Villoro and the musicians Diego Herrerra and Alfonso André (Caifanes). Also, who will be present is Federico Fong of the group "La Barranca" and the independent musician Javier Calderón, the show is called "Mientras nos dure el veinte" and it will be held on April 4 at Teatro Juárez.
Other outstanding participation are those from Luis Vicente de Aguinaga and Jorge Humberto Chávez, both winners from the prize Bellas Artes of Poetry 2004 and 2013 respectively; as well as Joaquín Cosío, renowned Mexican actor and poet. The event will also have the presence of the writer Élmer Mendoza, who will speak about "el placer insano de escribir novella negra en México".
Besides, it will be held again the cycle "Escritores jóvenes visitan Cuévano", composed by 7 activities, which include dramatized reading, reading tables and editorial presentations. They will also have the participation of the Instituto Estatal de Cultura with several editorial presentations of the "Fondo para las letras Guanajuatenses de cuento "Efrén Hernández" and "Efraín Huerta"."
As part of the activities of the University's Cultural Festival, the audience will have the opportunity to appreciate the concert "Sinfonismo monumental: La quinta de Mahler" by the Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato; the presentation of the program of the Day of the Flowers of the Folkloric Ballet of the University of Guanajuato; the concerts of the guest groups Tenampa Brass Band and Lacomadreja Dixieland; in addition of the Shadows Circus, with the play "Anacleto Morones", as part of the activities with social responsibility, since it is aimed for visually week people.
Regarding the homage for Juan Rulfo, there will be special activities such as the movie cycle "Rulfo 100", composed by nine films. There will also be the talks "Juan Rulfo: llanos, páramos y caminos"; "Pedro Páramo: Rosario de microrrelatos" and "Juan Rulfo y la sabiduría del zorro", among others.
The theater plays "El pueblo de las pasiones", "Entre Pedro Páramo y los caminos preciados del sueño", just to mention some; as well as the Illustration Jam "El imaginario de Juan Rulfo".
The Movie Club will project three movie cycles: "Alemania 50", "Cine Foro Escalinata" and "Archivo Histórico 70" with several functions in the stairway and the Euquerio Guerrero Auditorium.
The visual arts will also be present with the expos: "21 obras of the XXI century", from the Arts Museum of the Universidad de Guadalajara in the halls Hermenegildo Bustos and Polivalente; Luciano Trigos illustrates the Popol Vuh, exposition of illustrations to the trilingual Otomí-Spanish-English edition of the Iconographic Museum of the Quijote, in the Atrium, and the collective exposition of the illustrators David Lara, Yadira Martínez, Raúl Cruz -RACRUFI-, Jayme Sifuentes and Lupita Pacheco in the Jesús Gallardo gallery.
Likewise, there will several activities at Campus Guanajuato, Celaya-Salvatierra and Irapuato-Salamanca, also in HS Irapuato.
