León, Gto., a 24 de Marzo de 2017.- With the participation of outstanding professor-researchers of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato, Universidad Iberoamericana unit Mexico City and the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México, was held the "Second Latin American Seminar Mexico and Latin America: political and social junction from the present to the future" where they exposed several scenarios present in countries of the region with the objective to provide a wide panorama in democracy, inequality, poverty, education, violence, politics, government, in addition of making a retrospective analysis of the events that made an inflection point in Latin American nations.

Dr. Armando Chaguaceda; Coordinator of the Academic Body "Society, Culture and Politics" of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, was responsible of presenting the case of Venezuela where he highlighted the poverty gap which has increased from a 45% in 1998 to an 80% in 2016 with a 500% inflation that has impacted the low-income populations, in addition of having socially weak institutions due the regime of Nicolas Maduro.

Dr. José Russo Foresto, Coordinator of the Doctorate in Social Sciences, commented the rising of xenophobic proposals that have been presented by mandataries such as Donald Trump; North American president and emphasized the importance of the electoral processes that come in European countries where they can present anti-immigrant attitudes from the candidates quoting national security reasons.

In addition, commented the labor od the Mexican army which has been used in counter actions against organized crime since the period of the president Felipe Hinojosa and which has left the perception of low efficacy.

The Colombian case was addressed by Dr. Teodora Hurtado Saa, researcher of the Department of Social Studies, who developed the situation her country lives after the armed conflict and the peace treaty signing with the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) and the government's actions to diminish the poverty gap, destruction of illegal cultures, discrimination, public work sites and illegal exploitation of minerals.

The event had the participation of Dr. Alex Caldera-Ortega; Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Alejandro Klein, Director of the Department of Public Management and Development; Dr. José Luque; researcher of the Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México and Dr. Carlos Manuel Rodríguez of the Universidad Iberoamericana, venue Mexico City.
