
Celaya, Gto., March 31, 2017.- In 2016, the student enrollment of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra grew 15%, increased the number of full-time professors, which 80% have formed with pedagogic competencies according the Educational Model of the University of Guanajuato (UG), informed the Rector of Campus, Dr. Graciela de la Luz Ruiz Aguilar in the Annual Activity Report.
Convinced of "Integrating is strengthening", the Rector of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra thanked and recognized the work of who preceded her in the position; Dr. Guadalupe Ojeda Vargas and Dr. Silvia Delgado Sandoval, who was office responsible, as well as all the members of the campus community, whose active participation is reflected in the indicators' progress.
Addressing the academic topic in the activity report, Dr. Graciela Ruiz highlighted the 15% growth of students enrolled, which translates into 4,409 enrolled in major degrees and 74 in postgraduates.
Regarding the educational offer, informed on the creation of five programs: the major degree in a non-schooled modality of Business Management and Agribusiness; the specialties of Pediatric Nursing and Medical Surgeon Nursery, and the master degree in Social and Cultural Studies.
In addition, 727 students of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra had the opportunity to participate in international events in Mexico or abroad. At this point, the rector emphasized that these activities build exchange spaces for ideas and innovation in the teaching and learning processes.
The sensitivity of the university community to the needs of the environment, generated spaces to interact and services to society, whose ruling axis was multidiscipline. This has been possible –she highlighted—, for the tight collaboration between different society individuals, political actors and non-governmental organizations.
During the reported period, there were 443 Professional Social Service actions and 8, 493 College Social Service, among these, standout for their impact of the Development Strategy of the Indigenous Groups and Towns in the state of Guanajuato, the Program of Interdisciplinary Attention to Society (PAIS), and UG Brigades.
She also referred to the individual and collective achievements of the professors, as well as students that not only standout in academic events, but also in sports and cultural; which proves the comprehensive formation that distinguishes the House of Studies.
UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, sustained that "this is a growing campus, as all college students, we are growing people". He reminded that eight years ago, when the campus was created, it offered only eight degrees and two postgraduates. Currently, it has 28 educational programs (majors, masters, doctorate and specialty). It began with 1,600 students, not it has more than 3,000.
He highlighted the relevance of this progress, which have been possible because the University of Guanajuato (UG) is a collective with common interests. Also, he mentioned that this event symbolizes the common university interest, "where everyone works as a team and allows to identify where are we placed and where should we go."
Representing the professors, Dr. María de Lourdes García Campos, scholar of the Department of Clinical Nursing, expressed to be lucky to be part of the work team of the campus, while expressing her admiration and gratitude to all the directive, academic, administrative and service personnel to contribute in achieving common goals.
On behalf of the student community, Daniel Alejandro Díaz Cornejo, of the major in Marketing, declared that each one of the students must seize the opportunities offered by UG, institution that has an academic staff evaluated in the best of the country and an Educational Model that prepares for the challenges that present in the actual context and demands a higher commitment from the students.
At the activity report, was present the board of directors of UG, representatives of collegiate organs from UG and the public powers, as well as professors and students.
