Guanajuato, Gto., April 3, 2017.- The Campus Guanajuato's Library of the University of Guanajuato (UG) venue Marfil, holds almost 60,000 volumes for consult, loan and pleasure, since in its archive you will find books and magazines not only from the economic-administrative areas, but of visual arts, scenic arts and music.

The library is one of the thirteen options that the university community of Campus Guanajuato has and all the people of Guanajuato have, so they may increase their knowledge in the mentioned disciplines, also, they have a student service in which they loan tablets and laptops.

The engineer José Antonio Pérez Cordero, responsible of the morning shift at the library in Marfil and Ma. Adela Rivera Vázquez in charge of the Arts section, and at least 10 assistants, orient the visitor on the pieces and services they require, in a schedule from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00hrs, and on Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00, according the master degree programs of the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA).

Among the services this modern university space has, we find it specializes in Administration, Economy, Tourism, Music and Visual Arts, issuing library user IDs, "no-debt record", external loan of bibliographic material, reservation of cubicles and even inter-library loans, between the libraries in the cities and other campus and educational institutions.

Pérez Cordero revealed that despite the boom of book and consult material in internet, still, students and teachers consider essential to have a library, because of the beauty of some books or the rareness of another, which has not been digitalized yet and can be enjoyed in this space.

He explained that in the library in Marfil you can find around 47,000 volumes in the economic-administrative disciplines; a collection of six thousand music pieces, mostly partitures which are unfinished and about 5,000 art books.

Regarding the loan of more than 50 tablets and laptops, current since early 2016, Pérez reminded that there are guidelines for their use: two-day loan plus renewal, meaning, four days at the most.

DEDICATED COLLECTION TO MUSIC AND ARTS

The archive of Arts and Music in the Library in Marfil, they have visual arts, scenic arts and music pieces, and the difference between other libraries that loan most of their books, in this area, almost all collections are for internal consult.

The archive is composed by partitures, encyclopedias, dictionaries, illustrated painting books, thesis and magazines, considered not only of consult and the general archive that can be take out in a loan.

Both engineer Pérez as Ma. Adela Rivera, recognized that until now, the archive can be accounted with 11,000 pieces among the two collections (arts and music) but they still should integrate material from music sheets, some of them which were donated.

Adela Rivera explained that many partitures, have the same large format and small format in different editions, many of them Italian, previously, the students could copy them, but now it is much easier and less risky than taking the piece, take a picture with their mobile device.

Regarding visual arts, there are some old books, among them cartographies and lithography, even a piece of M. Jesús Gallardo, however, the most valuable collections were taken to the Library "Armando Olivares", for its treatment and preservation.
