Guanajuato, Gto., April 20, 2017.- A group of students of High School Salamanca created an Eco Lamp, a lamp that works with the electrons produced naturally by plants. Their objective is for this idea to have a social impact, reason why they give these workshops to teach different people to make them.
Eco Lamp was presented by Juan Carlos Carrasco López, Pablo Adrián Avelar Almanza, Sandra Julieta Vargas López y Nadia Ariadna Ginory Balderas in the 11th edition of the Contest of Creativity and Innovation of the University of Guanajuato (UG), where it obtained the first place in the Social Project category.
The project's responsible is the student Juan Carlos Carrasco, he explained that in the process of photosynthesis, certain chemicals are liberated in the soil, which interact and produce electrons, "these normally are lost in the underground, what we try to do is store them and give them a practical use, through light", this is the basic principle of Eco Lamp.
He cleared that this ecological lamp is a pilot project, but fulfills the purpose of demonstrating that it can obtain energy to make a lamp function.
Besides, using leds, requires much less energy than a common light bulb, allows to optimize the process. The next step is to deepen in the theoretical area to seek how to obtain better results, since they need nine plants to lit a led.
The students were advised by the Prof. Gonzalo Enrique Bernal Rivas of HS Salamanca, who remarked the enthusiasm of the young to create proposals that help take care of the environment.
Juan Carlos Carrasco López highlighted the importance that the University of Guanajuato promotes the realization of these projects through events such as the contest of creativity, so they just don't remain in ideas. "In the process of evaluation and realization of the project, there is a great personal development and there is the chance of making something with social impact" he concluded.
