Guanajuato, Gto., April 27, 2017.- With the presence of 250 speakers and around 150 students, began the XXVIII National Encounter of the Mexican Association of Communication Researchers, A.C. (AMIC) "Communication and Democratic Crisis in Mexico", which the University of Guanajuato (UG) holds this April 27 and 28.

At the opening ceremony, UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, pointed that communication –as an object of study—is related with other disciplines, such as philosophy, history, art and culture.

Hence, UG supported the realization of this encounter.

Also, he revealed that are contemplating the possibility to open an educational program in communication in UG, which could be a major, a postgraduate or specialty.

At the same time, he welcomed the attendants, to whom he exposed the importance it has for the House of Studies to encourage the academic activities and reaffirmed the support for encounter such as the one held by AMIC at UG, that covers the criteria of "quality, relevance and opportunity".

The Campus' Rector, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, made a recognition to the organizers and congratulated them for the diversity of topics that were addressed in the event, such as political communication, new technologies, society's information and internet, communication policies, speech, semiotics and language, public media, journalism studies, gender and communication, among others.

AMIC's President, Dr. Elvira Hernández Carballido, thanked UG authorities for the openness to create the encounter, and highlighted the relevance of speaking about communication and democracy.

Likewise, Dr. Ma. Aidé Hernández García, professor at DDPG and one of the organizers of the encounter, emphasized in the relation they have with communication and political sciences. Hence, she celebrated this dialogue spaces.

While welcoming the participants, DDPG's Director, Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, pointed that the National Encounter is an opportunity for reflection and exchange ideas and reiterated the willingness of the house of studies to promote and support these propositions.
