Guanajuato, Gto., a 28 de abril de 2017.- The eighth edition of Espiral University Forum will be held from May 3 to 12 this year. Espiral is a cultural space created by and for the students, where every year there are different events that cover most of the artistic disciplines such as dance, music, literature, among others.
This time, the University Forum is dedicated to two great intellectual writers of Mexico: Juan Rulfo and M. Eugenio Trueba Olivares.
In addition, they'll have the presence of the Universidad Veracruzana, the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM), Germany, and the Universidad El Bosque de Colombia told the student Adrián Santana, who is the programme coordinator for Espiral.
Santana mentions that the group called "Las hijas de la guayaba", will present in the inauguration next May 3 at Plaza San Roque at 20:00hrs. It will be a special event since it will include an homage to M. Eugenio Trueba through music of such music collective, which has influences from diverse genres such as funk, rock, jazz and son jarocho. Listening to "Las hijas de la guayaba" is an opportunity to enjoy original Mexican music composed for traditional popular instruments.
The coordinator highlighted some of the events at the cultural festivity. He mentioned that on Friday 5 in the Ex Jesuit convent's patio at 20:00hrs, there will be a musical show from "Los viernes swing band", this group's music says that "their music transmits stories from intimate moments such as romance, going through fun songs that invite to dance with the city as curtain".
Regarding the visual arts, they'll inaugurate several cultural spaces and galleries. The public will be able to visit these exhibits at the Gallery Hermenegildo Bustos, the Artistic Corridor Chávez Morado, the Gallery Jesús Gallardo, the Atrium Gallery, and the People's Museum, just to mention some spaces. In such places, artists from both the University of Guanajuato and Universidad Veracruzana will show their work, in addition, to commemorate the centennial of the birth of Juan Rulfo, there will be a visual intervention in UG's stairway.
Likewise, the University Forum will present a "Cycle of emerging pianists", a "Primer encuentro de milonga callejera" and a concert with the "Ensamble de música Latinoamericana de la UG".
The Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato (OSUG), will be responsible of closing the activities with a concert called "OSUG Symphonic Espiral" done specially for the forum and which besides music, it will also have dance interventions and visual projections. This event will take place on May 12 at 20:00hrs at Teatro Juárez.
