
Guanajuato, Gto., May 3, 2017.- Engineering students of the Computing Systems major, of the Division of Engineering from Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, of the University of Guanajuato (UG), obtained the first place in the Hackbajío 2017 organized by the High Performance Entrepreneur Group and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) with the purpose to develop innovative technological solutions to potentialize and improve the environment of the sport with three lines: Digital Intelligence in Soccer, Talent search and Fair play.
Jaime Loyola Rangel, Erick Emmanuel Martínez García, Erik García Chávez & Alejandro Guevara Escalera, Computing Systems major students of Campus Irapuato - Salamanca; also, Héctor Guevara Mosqueda, Eduardo Alejandro Valadez Velázquez & Oziel Alejandro Vargas Gómez, Mechatronic students of the Industrial-Technological Baccalaureate and Services Center No. 171 Mariano Abasolo –CBTis 171—unit Abasolo; composed the team "Kickoff Soccer" and created a multiplatform service focused in sport talent search, obtaining the first place among 250 participants.
The project consists in a multiplatform service to optimize the search and recruitment methods of new prospects for the basic forces of pro and semi-professional teams, through two applications: a web and a mobile option, where the users complete a series of challenges proposed by the creators and administrators of the platform, or by a professional soccer team to have the opportunity for a physical test to join a first, second or third division team.
As part of the first prize, the members received: eight tablets to use during the project development and, to support their education; merchandise of Club León and a cup, as a symbolic representation of being owners of the first place in the Hackbajío 2017 #Soccer&Tech; also, a one-week trip to Monterrey with all expenses, which includes visits to companies; a diploma course and medals granted by the Major-League Hacking (MLH), the international league of student hackathons.
As part of the activities of extension and liaison, students from the majors in Administrative Information and Mathematics from Campus Guanajuato participated as well in this event organized with support from the Department of Innovation Science and Higher Education -SICES-. Club León, NOVAERA, among others.
This way, the UG students applied their solid academic competencies in developing innovative products, which integrate vanguard technologic tools, incorporating science and technology as the pillars for the innovation and development.
