
León, Gto., May 10, 2017.- The Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) summed efforts for the first time with the program "Dr. Vagón, el tren de la salud" (Dr. Wagon, the train of health), an initiative funded by Grupo México and Ferromex to offer free health care to vulnerable communities near the train routes and tracks.
With the participation of the divulgation group FOMIX, composed by psychology students, they had a workshop "Te puedo querer con frutas y verduras", in addition of the personnel from the Nursing and Nutrition Unit, they gave talks on the danger of self-medication, and addressed topics such as the cares with chronic degenerative diseases, such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, nourishment during pregnancy and breastfeeding, how to prevent or diminish obesity with nourishment.
The talks and workshop were directed to the inhabitants of Molino de Sarabia, Villagrán and Apaseo el Grande on May 3-6, and they one last date scheduled for the next May 11.
Worthy to mention, the 14 train wagons are equipped with offices, laboratory, dorm rooms, lounge, mass hall, kitchen, bathroom, storage room and pharmacy, to attend for free the basic health needs of the population.
This program provides good medical, dermatological and pediatric consults, likewise, they make complementary tests that include a urine physical-chemical test, pregnancy test and PSA. Likewise, they make ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, spirometry, tympanometry, among others that allow –if necessary—to begin a timely treatment with free medication.
"Dr. Vagón, el tren de la salud" has visited 18 states among which are Guanajuato, Sonora, Sinaloa, Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, so they have given more than 386, 926 free medical attentions in the 31 routes since May 2014.
