Guanajuato, Gto., May 9, 2017.- Celebrating its 65th anniversary, the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato –OSUG—has been invited to participate in some of the most prestigious series of concerts and festivals of Europe, where they will share the billboard with musical aggrupation such as the Orchestra Suisse Romande, the BBC Orchestra, the Kremerata Baltica, the Chamber Orchestra Europe, and soloists as Marta Argerich, Cecilia Bartoli, Arcadi Volodos and Pinchas Zuckerman, just to mention some.

Likewise, during the tour, OSUG will share the stage with three soloists with international prestige: Brodsky Quartet, violinist Francesca Dego and the legendary violinist Shlomo Mintz.

In addition of a virtuous program and, committed to the new generations, OSUG will premiere in Europe three plays from young Mexican composers: Javier González Compeán and Adalberto Tovar, both from Guanajuato, and Jorge Torres, from Mexico City, composed to celebrate its anniversary.

Concerts with the highest quality, an audacious and innovating program and an outstanding interpretative flexibility have provided OSUG a privileged place in the music world; elements which will be present in the tour in Europe where they'll have the following schedule:

Worthy to mention that, before the tour in the old continent, OSUG will offer a concert at the Sala Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico City's University Cultural Center on May 25. The program includes the works: "Lucretius tragicus" of Jorge Torres Sáenz; "Las mujeres de Pénjamo. La marcha de las rehenes" of Javier González Compeán; Mendelssohn's Concert for violin op. 64; and Shostakovich's Symphony no. 5.

This way, OSUG stays as one of the professional musical groups with more prestige and tradition in the country for its versatility. In 65 years of career, it has positioned as the resident orchestra of the International Cervantine Festival, one of the most important cultural celebrations in Latin America; also, it has participated in four international tours in China, Egypt, United States and Italy.
