Guanajuato, Gto., May 12, 2017.- A decade ago, emerged from Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG), the pantomime group BIP, currently integrated by three young students from the major in Visual Arts who in each one of their presentations invite the public to enjoy this little explored artistic discipline.

Estrella Labrada Hernández, director and member of the group, remembers that BIP Pantomime was formed in 2007 by initiative of two students from majors in International Relationships and Business Administration, "who, when detected the lack of a group of this kind, they made the decision to put it together, ever since the group has maintained."

Ma. Cristina López San Vicente and Fernando López Sánchez are the members of the group, who agreed that the experience to practice pantomime has allowed to develop the skill to express situations or actions, "without the need to use our voice, only using movements with which we tell a story."

The director, commented that BIP Pantomime, is a small group open to receive any student of Campus Guanajuato, "it doesn't matter the degree or if there is prior preparation or experience in the scenarios, is an inclusive group."

Likewise, she mentioned that each time a new member comes in there's a general workshop with the basic topics such as walls, strings, boxes, move a glass, hand movement, gesticulations, among others, however, she says, "you don't need a previous knowledge."

Throughout the year, the group makes several presentations from open invitation of the own university and other institutions in charge of the diffusion of culture in the state of Guanajuato, hence, they have a series of routines for different audiences, same that are created and acted by the members.

The routines, are made through a creative process with several steps; first, "we think on a story, on our head me set a start point, a climax and a final, before creating them, we tell them and then we transform into the body, we interpret with gestures, same that must be exaggerated for the audience to get the idea", says Estrella Labrada.

Ma. Cristina López San Vicente, shared that being part of BIP Pantomime, for about a year and a half, has allowed her to improve her physical condition and mood, "it also gives me the opportunity to assume other roles, it is very liberating to create a character without fear and be in front of an audience you interact with."

As for Fernando López San Vicente, who became part of the group a year ago, it is a very liberating activity, "it has allowed me to be more extrovert, spontaneous and connect better with people, also, it has allowed me to be more confident in expression (...) It is a different expression in which you don't have to use words, but your body."

Finally, the young artists considered that, in the cultural ambience in Guanajuato, "we need more spaces for pantomime and for the people to give the opportunity to know it, and why not, be part of this art where extra everyday life is encouraged."
