
Guanajuato, Gto., a 17 de mayo de 2017.- As a recognition of the effort of the students who course educational program in the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG), it was held at the University of Guanajuato (UG) an award ceremony for the academic excellence, corresponding to the period Aug-Dec 2016.
A total of 66 students were awarded, from three majors: Law, Public Administration and Political Science; as well as four postgraduate programs: Specialty in Public Notary, Master in Constitutional Justice, Master in Criminal Law Science and Doctorate in Legal, politics and government studies.
From the major in Law, the best individual term GPAs, receive the Prize Maestro Antonio Torres Gómez, and the best GPA in the generation, receive the Prize Mtro. Cuauhtémoc Ojeda Rodríguez.
Representing UG's General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, the Attorney General of the Institution, M. Mauricio Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa, highlighted that the University doing doesn't only consists in transmitting knowledges, and emphasized that "we are obliged to serve society with our doing, our personality, and the transcendence of our acts."
Hence, he invited all the awarded to continue in the road of excellence "to become a tradition", if every day you cultivate it, then it becomes a habit, he assured.
The rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, mentioned that Mexico needs youth, "needs fresh voices the speak the truth, voices who know how to act with rectitude and dignify this great nation."
She congratulated the students who received the award, as well as their families and professors, while remembering that this achievement is not an isolated effort, but a shared one.
At the ceremony, DDPG's Director, Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, spoke of the honor it implies to receive these awards, at the same time, he reminded that these carry the names of former rectors Antonio Torres Gómez and Cuauhtémoc Ojeda, considered "pillars of the institution."
Representing the awarded students, spoke Saúl Briones Hernández, from the major in Law; Diana Lilia Mejía Rodríguez, from the major in Political Science, and Jessica Araceli Rodríguez Solís, from the major in Public Management. The students agreed that this achievement reaffirms their commitment with this House of Studies and with society, and expressed their gratitude to the parents, professors, family and university authorities for being with them and motivate them during their time at UG.
The presidium was composed by DDPG's Academic Secretary, Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Luna; the Director of the Department of Law, Dr. Leandro Eduardo Astrain Bañuelos; the Director of the Department of Public Management, Dr. Fernando Díaz Pérez, and the Director of the Department of Politics and Government Studies, Dr. Carlos Román Cordourier Real.
