León, Gto., May 19, 2017.- To commemorate the Day of the Psychologist, the Department of Psychology of Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG), programmed a series of academic activities focused in strengthening the professional identity.

Dr. Luis Felipe García y Barragán, who is the Director of the Department of Psychology, shared in an interview: "This is the second week of the psychologist we organize in the Campus, which had conferences, workshops, debates, providing an array of different areas to our students as, for example: environmental psychology, clinical psychology, preventions of addictions and group psychology; which are aimed for major degree students."

During this second week, there was an editorial presentation of "Letras de Legrac. Dispositivos grupales y salud mental" in which former students of the University of Guanajuato participated, with the purpose to study the social phenomenon.

13 chapters compose the book, and it is aimed for Psychology master and specialty students.

M. Marta Armida Campos, co-author, expressed: "The objective of the book is to explain the different group interventions from a clinical point of view, these activities are made with the purpose to show the group and therapeutic-clinical work, where several people supervise, from different group focuses", finalized M. Campos.

Also, there was a master conference: "El psicólogo en el proceso de reinserción social en las adicciones", given by Dr. Paula Carvalho, who is a professor-researcher at the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of Campus Leon.

At the conference, she explained the role of the psychologist in the reinsertion process, which reaffirmed by explaining a bio-psychosocial model she developed years back in Portugal and Spain.

She added that the model is an excellent work area for the degree students, since the prevention of addiction is hard work for them.

"We have to research more, since it is currently highly connected with drug traffic and delinquency in Mexico. We have to remember that the addictions are diseases that exist in society and the role of the psychologist is determinant for the patient's rehabilitation", she concluded.

To close the week, there was a conference "Espacio público, sostenibilidad y socio lugares", given by Dr. Bernardo Jiménez Domínguez from the Universidad de Guadalajara and the workshop "Evaluación y aplicación de pruebas en el adulto mayor", given by Dr. Charles Yssacc Da Silva Rodríguez, who is a professor at the Department of Psychology of Campus León.
