Guanajuato, Gto., May 20, 2017.- With a nurtured attendance and historic cyphers overtaken, this Friday, concluded the Congress of Applied Touristic Research 2017 "Turismo Sostenible para el Desarrollo", whose activities developed from May 17 to 19 in the magnus spaces of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

M. Velino Esteves Jiménez, Academic Secretary of the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA), made the formal closing ceremony of the encounter, representing the Director of the Division, Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López.

In his message, M. Esteves informed that to the Congress attended 342 people from 26 higher education schools from 21 states of the Mexican Republic, with 82 expositions, eight posters and five guest countries: Austria, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Peru.

Also, they presented five books and had the opportunity to gather with academic bodies, which was a complete success, hence, he thanked the Federal Department of Tourism, its state homologue, to the state governments who participated and of course, the university authorities who made this event possible.

At the closing ceremony, M. Patricia Domínguez Silva, Director of the Institute of Touristic Competitivity (ICTUR for its acronym in Spanish) of the Federal Dept. of Tourism, handed the Award for the Merit in Research and Academic Trajectory to Dr. Napoleón Rosario Conde Gaxiola.

Dr. Conde is from Sinaloa, researcher-professors of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), ascribed to the section of Postgraduate and Research Studies of the Higher School of Tourism in Mexico City. He is a sociologist, lawyer, philosopher, anthropologist, pedagogue and economist, author of 26 books where he addresses several philosophical, legal and leisure topics.

Also, M. Domínguez handed a commemorative plaque to the University of Guanajuato for hosting the activities of the Congress of Applied Touristic Research 2017 and particularly, highlighted the work of Dr. Mónica Mejía and Dr. Betsabé Morales, as well as scholars from other participating universities.

ICTUR's leader also celebrated that in this encounter "they overcame the numbers in the history of congresses of touristic research", which was achieved, he said, thanks to the joint work of the Department of Tourism and the University of Guanajuato.

She explained that the modality of the posters presented for the first time in these Congresses, and with the conferences given by the 133 specialists in the subject, a book will be edited by the Colegio de Tlaxcala, text which will have the best articles that were presented in Guanajuato, and it will be determined by the Scientific Committee that was established in this encounter.

It is important to remember the summon made by the Dept. of Tourism through ICTUR and the University of Guanajuato, which invited people from applied research to generate a critical reflection about tourism, such as a strategy to generate economic, cultural, social, technological, political, institutional and educational transformations oriented to the sustainable development.

At the closing ceremony was also present, Dr. Héctor Fabián Gutiérrez Rangel, Director of the Department of Business Management and Direction of DCEA.
