
León, Gto., May 23, 2017.- "We seek to contribute to the development and strengthening of the students, create links with institutions and companies, and encourage the participation of the student community of the three division of Campus León". This was the message of Sarahí Plascencia Castro, who took oath as president of the Student Branch of the Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers (SEIMIQ for its acronym in Spanish) of this campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG), which is composed by fourteen students of the Division of Science and Engineering for the 2017-2018 period.
The oath taking of the board members of the SEIMIQ of Campus Leon was held in the venue Campestre's auditorium, where they reaffirmed their commitment to achieve the institutional objectives and motivate the student participation.
In an interview, Sarahí Plascencia Castro mentioned the considered activities in the work plan in which stand out industrial visits to the states of Veracruz and Guadalajara, in addition of the week of Chemical Engineering, where they seek the participation of other universities and integrate a program that offers Chemistry oriented conferences and workshops and other area where they will give leadership and entrepreneurism workshops.
She also mentioned that they seek to collaborate with student societies in other division of Campus Leon to start actions with a social impact, as well as with the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences of Campus Guanajuato to make exchanges in which the students and academics participate.
SEIMIQ-UG's board is composed by Kenia Paola Martínez, María José Macías, Alina Villanueva, María Fernanda de Alba, Kathia León, Sara Benedetti, Noé López, Carlos Daniel Lerma, Elva Citlali Rentería, Juan Francisco Hernández, Jesús David Ramírez, Edgar Ernesto Ruiz, Benjamín Nieto & Alicia Plascencia Castro.
The event had the presence of Dr. José de Jesús Bernal Alvarado, Academic Secretary of the Division of Sciences and Engineering of Campus León; Eng. Juan Luis López, local representative of the Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineering and Edgar Ernesto Ruiz Bello, who gave the place to the new president.
