Celaya Gto., May 30, 2017.- The lack of awareness on the causes of the diseases and death that affects women, made the members of Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights, to establish May 28 as the International Day of Action for Women's Health, with the purpose, at first, to promote the defense of the reproductive tights and a better life quality for women.

In this framework, the University of Guanajuato, Campus Celaya-Salvatierra celebrated the Journeys of Physiotherapy for Women, where the Rector, Dr. Graciela Ruiz Aguilar, mentioned that Physiotherapy is an opportunity to attend, from a perspective of equity and inclusion, the reincorporation to society of the female population with an illness.

The journeys are important since the topics they address are related to women's health; and go from speaking about the importance of rehabilitation of the pelvic floor in urinary incontinence, endometriosis, menstrual pain, until maternal and fetal mortality.

The physiotherapists use the therapeutic exercise and physical agents to provide a treatment that cures, prevents, recovers and readapts the patients; and the college students who are preparing in this discipline not only acquire the knowledges and skills that make them highly competitive in their performance, but they graduate with the capability to act in multidisciplinary groups, to recover the life quality of the individuals. The journeys for health, are developed in the university framework where they incorporate the gender perspective and focus in human rights as reigning axes in constructing a more just, equal and safer society for women and men.

As part of the comprehensive formation that the students who study the degree in Therapy and Rehabilitation receive, they consider leadership actions that allow them to "preach with the example", motto that this year highlight the Pan-American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.

A leadership who seeks to satisfy the human being's needs and create strategies for its attention. A leadership that focus in the fulfillment and achievement of objectives based in principles and collective values, never particular nor factional.

The leadership promoted by the University of Guanajuato, is one that considers the ethic and dignity of people, mentioned Dr. Ruiz Aguilar, particularly in health, it integrates with other disciplines, to trace strategies, motivate and thrive through goals and general wellbeing.

At the opening ceremony was present the Director of the Division of Health Sciences anf Engineering, Dr. Israel Enrique Herrera Díaz. The topics of the talks were: Endometriosis, menstrual pain is not normal; Post-mastectomy lymphatic drainage; The role of the physio-therapist with the pregnant women; The importance of the physical exercise in women and Maternal and fetal mortality. All of them given by specialists in physical therapy.

At noon, they set up stands with topics related to the health of women, where the female population of Campus had the opportunity to receive additional information. According the National Institute of Women, every day die approximately 830 women of related causes to pregnancy and birth.
