Irapuato, Gto., June 1, 2017.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) and the National Commission of Water (CONAGUA for its acronym in Spanish) endorse their interest to work together, since they have been strategic allies to implement projects related with the socialization of the technification of watering in the module La Purísima and in the project of efficient use of water.

The Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz and the Local Director of the National Commission of Water in Guanajuato, Humberto Carlo Navarro de Alva, gathered in the city of Irapuato, to deliver the concession and assignment of user's agreements of national waters developed by CONAGUA in the university facilities El Copal.

During the event, Navarro de Alva recognized the participation of the University of Guanajuato in high social impact projects related with the technification and the care of water, which is why he extended his recognition to the Rector and the professors who do research or extension.

Dr. Armando Gallegos explained that in the community El Copal you find the Division of Life Sciences, where they work in strategic themes such as health, nourishment, energy and environment.

This work has allowed them to help the food and rural sector in different ways, for example: creating new varieties of wheat, bean and corn; collaborating in the conservation of endangered agave and cactus, helping in the control of plagues with benefic organism in different cultures and developing biodigestores for the rural families.

He reminded that UG in Irapuato participated in the socialization of the comprehensive modernization of the watering in the module La Purisima dam, an engineering project with the participation of CONAGUA, "Secreataría de Desarrollo Agroalimentario y Rural", "La Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganaderia, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentacion (SAGARPA)" and the "Junta de Agua Potable de Irapauto".

The academic community is convinced in continue participating with ideas and projects that benefit the society, affirmed Dr. Gallegos to the federal functionary, within the title ceremony to 160 users of the cities of Irapuato, Salamanca, Juventino Rosas, Villagrán, Pueblo Nuevo, Silao y Guanajuato, with the presence of municipal authorities.
