León, Gto., June 5, 2017.- Alicia Sarahí Plascencia Castro, student of the sixth semester of the degree in Sustainable Chemistry Engineering of the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus Leon, will present in the XXX National Congress of Analytic Chemistry the progress of her research called "Application of the molecular engineering to the design of plants to produce clean fuels", where Dr. José Carlos Cárdenas Guerra and Dr. Julio Armas Pérez collaborate, both are scholars ascribed to the Department of Chemical, Electronics and Biomedicine Engineering of Campus Leon.
In an interview, Alicia Plascencia commented on the importance of the project since it applies the knowledge of the latest technology with the purpose to implement an industrial process to produce biodiesel with zero CO2 emissions, in addition of reducing the operational costs and have a positive impact in the environment.
She also highlighted the potential of the project, since it follows the global trend to seek environment friendly energy sources, in addition of making research to generate knowledge, technology and biodiesel elaboration processes parting from natural resources.
It is important to mention that this is a research project that Dr. Carlos Cárdenas began a year ago, and it has summed efforts from Alicia Plascencia, who currently works in calculating the simulation properties by atomic methods of the oil derived from the wild plant "Jatropha", natural resource that grows in the states of Oaxaca and Cuernavaca.
On his part. Dr. Carlos Cárdenas explained that the "idea is to part from the molecular level to determine the properties and with it, obtain a molecular thermodynamic model and that model will allow to design the reaction-separation process and with that simulation process, the pilot plant will be designed".
The XXX National Congress of Analytic Chemistry and the XX Student Symposium will be held at the Department of Cultural Studies of Campus Leon from June 20-24 this year. The event will gather degree and postgraduate students, also, researchers from several universities in the country, and will also have the participation of the outstanding researcher Enrique Barrado Esteban, from the Universidad de Valladolid.
