
León, Gto., June 16, 2017.- Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato, together with the General Direction of Environmental Management of the city of Leon, developed an action strategy in the surrounding zones of Sierra de Lobos, with the purpose to plant tree and bush species; promoting the sustainable development of the community of Guanajuato in the region.
Leon's greenhouse provided the tools with which the environmental promotion was made at the same time donated more than 100 varied specimens of vegetation, which were planted in two communities.
This time, they had the participation of administrative personnel and the students from Campus Leon, who visited fist the community Media Luna, to develop actions that boost the air quality of the zone; since the experts of the Direction of Environmental Management assured, this area a "huge lung" for the city due to its high level of vegetation.
The experts helped with instruction during the whole process which is necessary to plant tree species: from opening the ground with machinery to plating the vegetable specimen.
"I thought it was a very nice activity, very dynamic and I liked the collaboration that the University of Guanajuato has with other institutions, to implement this kind of activities, proving the commitment with the environment", expressed María Fernanda Acevedo, student of the eighth semester of the major in Public Management and participant in the activity.
Once the work was finished in this community, they headed to Cerro de Ibarrilla, which is a place known for being stony, which made the use of machinery difficult in this zone even to open the ground.
This activity sums up to the actions that the community of the University of Guanajuato makes in favor of handling and conserving the environment.
