analizan-impacto-social-de-trabajo-informal-ug-ugtoLeón, Gto June 22, 2017.- With the objective to strengthen the liaison networks with other universities and the research lines in work studies, there was a conference in the University of Guanajuato "Los poros de la informalidad en Brasil: una mirada a las relaciones de trabajo informal en el territorio de la Sulanca/ Pernambuco/ Nordeste/ Brasil" given by the professor-researcher Dr. Bruno Mota Braga from the Universidad Federal de Paraíba, Brazil.

Dr. Bruno explained the impact of the informality and its relationship with other social dynamics such as migration, entrepreneurship, family work, formal work relationships and the way informality acquires different senses "that cannot only be seen as a survival strategy".

He also mentioned the quick surge of productive units with a poor installation where people with family nexus regularly work there and form small businesses that don't have the best conditions for the worker.

In his opinion, it is necessary to create social protection public policies and the participation of the universities to make studies on the informality and recognize the different types and the way it evolves, besides generating actions for the protection of the workers.

In an interview, Dr. Mota commented the role informality has in a country's economy, which goes from the null tax collection, generation of inequality, inexistence of policies to protect minors and the environment, as well as the lack of social protection for the workers; he mentioned that "the informality in Brazil and Mexico have similar elements, with job markets very alike which have an influence from other countries, mainly from US, reason why the informality is constantly morphing".

This conference is part of the activities of the Permanent Seminar of Labor Studies made by the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato.

Dr. Alex Ricardo Caldera Ortega, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of Campus Leon and Dr. Juan Antonio Rodríguez González, Academic Secretary of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities were responsible to give the initial words of the event and invited who attended to participate in the following sessions of the seminar.
