Guanajuato, Gto., June 24, de 2017.- Students from the Oral Litigation team of the degree in Law of the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG) of Campus Guanajuato, obtained the award for the "Best initial hearing" during the Third National Contest of Oral Trial and Preliminary Hearings.
Likewise, the students from the University of Guanajuato, were recognized by the California Western School of Law through the Carbonell Center of Legal Studies and the Center of Studies on Learning and Teaching Law; in the categories "Best opening plea" and "Best precautionary measures" during the phase that developed on early May in the city of Tijuana.
The team was formed by Isabel Guillén, Valentina Zavala, Alondra Elizarraraz, Diana Guadalupe Ramírez, Diana Evelin Toledo, Lesly Itzel Sánchez, Alejandra Sosa Valdovino and Aarón Velázquez Villegas, assessed by M. Juan Carlos Páramo Vázquez, who is respected by all.
They all are in different terms of the Law degree and are from different parts of the state, with different lives and motivations when they chose to study, but they share a passion: the excellence in exercising their career and the involvement in improving society.
They dedicated months, many extra hours to prepare and, in this third contest, they analyzed two cases in separate groups: a femicide and a kidnapping.
Each one spoke about the importance of being part of the University of Guanajuato, of the degree in law and their future aspirations; for example; Isabel Guillén, from Irapuato and in the fifth term, shared that she was looking for a degree that allowed her to contribute something to the world, to her country, for a more just Mexico, a more equal and respectful society of the rights.
Valentina Zavala Enríquez, from San Miguel de Allende, but she has been in Guanajuato since high school, and from a young age she likes debates, arguments, politics and philosophy, and considers that the degree in Law answers her search for intellectual growth.
Alondra Elizarraraz is from Crucita de Gutiérrez, a city of Pénjamo and, although she had many conflicts to decide with degree to take, because Psychology was also her interest, she decided for Law which brought satisfaction to her family, since her parents didn't have the chance to study due to economic reasons, but they were certain that their daughters will have a degree.
In her community, she told, most of the people work in the country, like her father, no fix income, there are problems with the harvest because of the plagues, the climatic change and land tenancy, which led her to choose Agricultural Law, although not yet mandatory, it is taught, so she could help people in those litigations.
Diana Guadalupe Ramírez García found her call in Law, at first, she was interested in Medicine for a month, although it was easy for her, she wasn't satisfied; then she went through DDPG for a semester, but she finally acknowledged that Law was hers and stopped resisting.
There was a little fightback, she accepted, but when she entered Law, she felt right at home. She is now interested in Constitutional Law, but when she joined the oral litigation team, she also liked the Criminal Law team and she aspires to work in an international organism, for which she has prepared in three languages: English, French and German.
It was neither in the plans of Diana Evelin Toledo Villagómez to study Law when she arrived at this city from Uriangato to study high school, but when she had to decide she didn't hesitate, the degree answers her expectations to return to society a little of how much the university has taught her, and in the future, she is interested in working in Commercial Law, Human rights, Constitutional Law and make a career in the Judicial Power and teaching.
The young woman from Salamanca, Lesly Itzel Sánchez visualized her interest years ago in a degree where she could develop her verbal, intellectual and social skills, and it has been worth it, she mentioned. Her idea in the future is to begin with public defense, as a social labor then specialize in crimes against people, --not against patrimonial goods—, such as rapes, homicides, kidnappings.
She plans to work in her own office as a private defender, because she was to return what this city gave her, but before, she wants to train in the Accusatory System in US, Chile, Costa Rica and Spain, where the dogmatic is excellent, so then she can litigate in Guanajuato.
In the opinion of Alejandra Sosa Valdovino, femicide is an atrocious crime, topic that in this pageant had to compete with, everyone was aware, as Law students, but also as society members, where they must be thorough when taking cases like this.
For Aaron Velázquez Villegas was proud to represent UG in this pageant, and in the future, he sees himself exercising Criminal Law, Civil Law and Commercial Law. Although his strength was exact sciences, he also discovered that the debate and argument are very interesting and he can contribute in improving the country, which is so damaged by the number of crimes registered.
It is important to mention that this Third National Oral Trial Contest and Preliminary Hearings, had the participation of all the schools and faculties of Law, both private and public in the Mexican Republic since February this year in the city of Guadalajara; in March in three venues: Mazatlán, Mérida and México City, and finally in the National Phase in Tijuana, past May.
