León, Gto., July 2, 2017.- Linda Pérez Padrón, graduate from the degree in Psychology of the University of Guanajuato (UG), carried out a project with the objective to make preventing actions of illnesses such as diabetes and reduce the risk factors.
Her work began since March this year where she created a diagnosis to know the feeding habits of eight students of the Division of Sciences and Engineering of UG's Campus Leon. She identified the preference for fast food, prolonged fast, and high levels of glucose. So, she decided to work with them and give four workshops through which "they were given tools to prepare healthy, low cost and easy to do meals, besides they have programmed activities focused on motivating the physical activity", she detailed.
"Working in this kind of projects allows to improve health, change the feeding habits, increase school performance and raise awareness on self-care." This were the words that Linda Pérez Padrón used to express her satisfaction for working with this proposal as part of the activities of the Diploma in Therapeutic Education, from which graduates the 12th generations next to fourteen professionals from different areas such as nursery, psychology and nutrition.
In an interview, Dr. Sergio Márquez Gamiño, head professor of the Diploma in Therapeutic Education in Diabetes, highlighted the importance of the diploma since "it allows to educate the health professionals and at the same time the affected population with illnesses like obesity and diabetes". He emphasized that the diploma has 358 graduates, reason why they seek a positive impact on society, also, he mentioned that to the diploma attend health professionals from different areas which enriches the knowledge and provides distinct perspectives that allow to offer a comprehensive attention to people.
The protocol event in which they delivered records to who were part of this diploma, had the presence of: M. Juan Carlos Mora Hernández, General Coordinator of Academic Development of Campus Leon; M. María del Pilar Fernández Carrasco, Coordinator of Teaching of the Division of Health Sciences of Campus León of UG, and Dr. Fernando Mendoza Morfín, Medical Director of the Mexican Association of Diabetes in Guanajuato, A.C.
The Diploma in Therapeutic Education in Diabetes is given in the facilities of the venue San Carlos of UG's Campus Leon with a semiannual enrollment period, on August 4, will being the 13th generation.
