Guanajuato, Gto., July 4, 2017.- Authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG) lead by the General Rector, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, welcomed representatives from the Austrian Ministry and Embassy of Austria in Mexico, because of the common interest to tighten the academic collaboration.

While welcoming the members of the Austrian committee, Dr. Guerrero reminded there is a previous record of collaboration between UG and Austrian universities, especially with the Department of Language. The purpose is to secure those bonds and visualize new opportunity areas, such as literature.

In that sense, both the Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. César Federico Macias Cervantes, as the Director of the Department of Spanish Languages, Dr. Andreas Kurz, expressed their willingness to strengthen the cooperation, and pointed that one of the alternatives is to divulge the main figures of the Austrian and Spanish American literature through publications edited at UG.

During the reunion, the University of Guanajuato received the first part of a donation of books on the history of the Austrian literature, which will inaugurate an initiative to have an Austrian library in the Maximum House of Studies of the State.

The Austrian delegation was formed by the Director of the Section of Culture of the Austrian Ministry for European Affairs, Dr. Teresa Indjein; the Direcor of the Cultural Forum of the Austrian Embassy in Mexico, M. Iliona Hoyos; the Councilor of the Ministry of Education of Austria for the sectors of International and Bilateral Affairs and the Holocaust International Education, Dr. Elisabeth Burda-Buchner; as well as M. Evelyn von Bülow, from the Department of Legal Affairs and Cultural Agreements in the Austrian Ministry for European Affairs, Integration and External Relationships, and M. Karin Zimmer, from the Federal Chancellery of Austria for European and International Political Culture Affairs.

From UG was present the Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo; the Director of International Relationships and Academic Collaboration, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz; the Academic Secretary of DCSH of Campus Guanajuato, M. Alma Laura Montes Hernández, and M. Helena Knapp, from the area of German of the Department of Languages at UG, who has been one the main promoters of the collaboration with Austrian institutions.
