de-trascendencia-academica-y-social-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., July 26, 2017.- With the presentation of 20 projects and the participation of 56 researchers from several disciplines that addressed the multiple problems of water, concluded the Water Symposium 2017, held at the University of Guanajuato (UG).

In a press conference, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of UG's Campus Guanajuato, highlighted this encounter of specialists of great transcendence from the social and academic point of view, because for the first-time multidisciplinary researchers gathered, the critical mass of the University of Guanajuato, to address the problem of water in all aspects.

It wasn't only about scholars from Social Sciences, or Natural and Exact Sciences, she said, but achieved the synergy of all knowledge areas, including Architecture, Art and Design, where students and professors exposed their research, its social function and where can this generated knowledge can be applied.

She celebrated the joint of efforts from researcher of the four UG campuses and government instances of the State Government and the city of Guanajuato, such as the State Commission of Water (CEAG) and Simapag.

When she announced that the participations of this symposium will be gathered in a book, Dr. Rendón concluded that addressing fundamental topics for society, such as water, exemplify the social transcendence and the contribution made from UG to the community.

For the M. Gabriel Alejandro Andreu de Riquer, General Coordinator of the Academic Development of Campus Guanajuato and organizer of the Symposium, highlighted that UG's mission as public entity is to, among others, promote answers to the questions and needs of society.

She considered this encounter, summoned by CEAG and Water Operating Organisms and Civil Society, will be the beginning of a fruitful relation in the long term in benefit of a society before a toral problem: water, which if it is not dealt appropriately, "can become in the Alpha and Omega of the society."

At the meeting, it was remarked the need to have a synergy and willingness to cooperate in topics as important as the treatment and quality of water, supply, conduction, energy that can be obtained from water and the reasonable use.

Also participated in the conference; Dr. Carlos Alberto Leal Morales, Coordinator of Support for Research and Postgraduate and co-organizer of the event; Dr. Luis Jesús Ibarra Manrique and Dr. Ismael Orozco Medina, who agreed that it was an enriching experience that allowed several researches made in UG, to finally have a link towards a problem which concerns us all: water.
