Guanajuato, Gto., July 26. 2017.- With the purpose to promote a sense of responsibility towards the community, the High School College (CNMS) of the University of Guanajuato (UG) summoned students to participate for one of the ten scholarships to participate in the summer program "Summer 4-H" organized by the West Virginia University, US in Jackson's Mill at Morgan Town.
Summer 4-H is a program of juvenile development with the mission to improve the life of people, health at communities and the strength of a country; it is a community of children and youth in the United States where they learn Leadership, civism and skills for life. The objectives are to organize and operate clubs to teach about values, leadership, good citizenship and develop useful skills for all life. Proposes to develop projects with institutional, social and personal utility by using the methodology and philosophy of the program.
For a week, students from CNMS' schools had the opportunity to relate with students of their age from different cities in West Virginia and with a delegation from China; also, they practiced English, valued their homes and, mainly, awoken loyalty and admiration for their country.
The objectives of the participation of the students in this summer program are: propitiate the personal development of who participates through these experiences that allow a personal comprehension and develop trust in themselves at the time of assuming leadership positions. Promote the internationalization experiences between high school students and follow up the 4-hh program in different high schools.
For the students who attended the camp it was an unforgettable experience since, besides knowing the culture and relate with youth from other countries, they could visit other important sites such as the White House, the monument to Washington (Obelisk), the Museum of Natural History, the Holocaust Museum, the Capitolium, among others.
This way, who participated have the task to promote the 4-H program in the schools and strengthen the existent programs at the high schools, since this is the second time in a row that students participate in this camp.
It is important to mention that 4H correspond to: Head, Heart (feelings), Hands (service) and Health, of body and mind.
